"I do not necessarily want to perform a wavefront-guided procedure in cases of dry eye, a preexisting corneal scar, previous lens surgery, or even a 50-year-old patient with slightly increased lens density. It would etch their pathology-induced wavefront abnormality into the cornea. In these cases, I prefer a wavefront-optimized procedure, in which the patient’s treatment is not based on his or her personal HOA profile but rather a customized correction that is determined by an optimized wavefront treatment."
